Although X-Men: Days of Future Past managed to incorporate almost every movie X-Man past, there was very little of Anna Paquin's Rogue in it. And yet apparently director Bryan Singer shot a great deal of Rogue footage — footage that will be included in a new edition of the movie which Fox will release on Blu-ray later this year.
Generally called the "Rogue cut," this new version of the movie will contain 10 additional minutes of the power-absorbing, Southern-accented mutant, taken out of the original film to trim its running time. Screenwriter Simon Kinberg says the Blu-ray will arrive mid-2015, while Fox Home Entertainment's executive vice president of marketing-communications James Finn promised that the Blu-ray would be a "distinct film" with "distinct extras," meaning it won't just be a rehash of the original Days of Future Past Blu-ray. "[It'll be] complimentary to DOFP Blu-ray but not repetitive," said Finn on Twitter. And according to /Film:
The centerpiece of the Rogue storyline seems to be a prison break sequence involving Professor X, Magneto, and Iceman.
Personally, I'm only marginally interested in seeing what happened to Rogue after the nonsense of X-Men 3, but I'm super-supportive of Fox releasing a new edition of DoFP that isn't just a double-dip and naked money-grab.
