Good news, fans of fabulous X-Men characters: X-Men: Apocalypse's mutant roster just got a little more sparkly, with the addition of Lana Condor as the young Jubilation Lee!
Bryan Singer himself took to Instagram to deliver the news:
Jubilee originally had the power to shoot bright, multicoloured energy plasmoids from her fingertips, commonly referred to, and drawn as, firework-like bursts of energy. (She has since been depowered and is currently a vampire. Comic books, ladies and gents.) Although she's been around in the comics since 1989, most X-Men fans are aware of her through her appearance on the classic X-Men animated series in the mid-'90s.
Let's hope Condor can avoid the fate of previous attempts to portray Jubilee on screen. Jubilee made a cameo appearance in 2000's X-Men, played by Katrina Florence, and she was portrayed by Kea Wong in X-2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, although all of her dialogue sequences in both films were cut and later released as deleted scenes. The character was also slated to appear in Days of Future Past, but never got past the concept art phase.
Hopefully, Apocalypse will give the character some actual speaking screen time!
