Our noses are twitching, and it's not because we're about to do some magic. It's because Bewitched, one of the most unintentionally creepy TV shows of all time, is getting another shot at a reboot. Yes, even after that disastrous movie.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures TV is shopping around a new version of the show about a guy named Darren who's married to a sexy witch named Samantha, whose amazing powers are always threatening to screw up Darren's desire to have a boring life. This new take on it is crafted (so to speak) by The Vow writers Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, and a few networks are interested.
This isn't the first time someone has tried to resurrect Bewitched — in 2011, CBS was interested in picking up a reboot of the witchy comedy, but it ended up dying. The 2011 attempt and this new version are both produced by the same people as the 2005 movie. It's hard to imagine how you'd update Bewitched for the 21st century without turning it into some kind of exploration of male anxieties in the face of rising female influence — a supernatural comedy for the Hillary Clinton era. And that sounds... kinda annoying.
