Where is all of Earth's groundwater going? Groundwater supplies around the world are undergoing a massive depletion. So what's the answer? Well, since the majority of groundwater is used for agricultural purposes, improving agricultural efficiency could have the biggest impact.

What percentage of water used in farming and animal raising goes back into the system? I know with agriculture most of the water is retained in the plants, but when we hear about the amount of water to raise a cow or a chicken, most of that water is not retained and is sent back into the system, right?
