The biggest reveal in Peter Jackson's epic Hobbit trilogy will absolutely be the first time the audience gets a glimpse of the giant dragon with the gold belly, Smaug. But when exactly will we get to see the greedy beast in the Lonely Mountain? The actor who voiced the role, Benedict Cumberbatch might know.

Cumberbatchweb has a tidbit from an interview with Anne Richardson, in which the actor reveals his potential debut:

"I think my eye might open at the end of the first film and then you'll get the rest of me in the second."

Now, this interview was given before the announcement that Jackson would be splitting the movies into three parts, so it's probably changed a bit. However, we could see either the second movie or the first movie both ending with the Smaug eye. It's a great cliffhanger. I guess it all depends which stories from the Tolkien appendix Jackson feeds into his films.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will open in theaters on December 14th

I am not liking the studios greed and would rather sit through two 3 hour movies than three 2 and half or so hour movies. I loved LOTR but there was a bunch of drawn out needless dialog about like Ent's saying good morning...

But honestly by breaking the movie up into three we will get to see the Dragon well before the big reveal.

Too much time in between movies and someone gets their hands on a sketch, digital frame, or hell they release the Art Of Book...
