Science fiction has a lot of great quotes that have stood the test of time. Funny, inspiring, just beautifully written sentences—there are a lot to choose from. So what’s your favorite? What’s the quotation you find yourself saying all the time?

For me, it isn’t a brilliant quote from a good piece of writing. It’s from “Spock’s Brain.” Yes, I know it’s weird that the worst episode of Star Trek is the one I can’t stop quoting. But if there is a funnier, more versatile quote than “Brain and brain, what is brain?” I have not found it.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
