Dystopias aren't meant to be plausible. They're a reflection of our darkest nature, writ large. Plus we can all think of real-life societies that would seem like ridiculous dystopias if you put them in fiction. But what's the most contrived or implausible dystopia ever invented?


In honor of The Purge, opening this weekend, we want to know which dystopia you think makes the least sense, as a functioning society. Please include a picture, so we can admire the stark despair of your chosen Hell on Earth.

I know everybody loves it, but Idiocracy. It makes absolutely no sense, and it's basically an excuse to make fun of caricatures of working-class people and the pop culture they enjoy. Plus "intelligence" isn't something we can quantify, let alone "breed out of" the population using television.
