The Martian

Ridley Scott is in talks to direct The Martian, which had previously been in the hands of Drew Goddard. Goddard wrote the script, but is unable to direct due to other filming commitments. The film will be based on the novel by Andy Weir, about an astronaut stranded on Mars. Matt Damon will star. No clue if this project would prevent Scott from directing the Prometheus sequel — but it sounds as though The Martian could well be his next project, when he's done with post-production on Exodus. The Hollywood Reporter article specifically mentions that Scott is talking about making The Martian his 21st feature. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Michael Rowe, who plays Deadshot, talked about whether his character would still be willing to die if/when we see him again:

Deadshot is obviously more than a little twisted. He doesn't respect life... his or anybody else's.

This is one of the things that makes him so dangerous because he's willing to put it all on the line. He doesn't hesitate at all. He doesn't care if he dies, but he wants to die the perfect death.

He wants to die with purpose doing what he loves, doing what he's good at. He wants to go out in a blaze of glory.

He thought that the right moment had come in the "Suicide Squad" episode, but Diggle talked him out of it. I'm sure that won't be the last time those thoughts cross his mind.

He also answered whether we'd see Deadshot in The Flash — or his own spinoff:

I hope so. In a perfect world, all of those things would happen. We'll just have wait and see. The producers seem to be very in tune with what the fans want. They really listen to the viewers. So if the viewers make a lot of noise about it, the chances will definitely be greater.

Agents of SHIELD

Following the season one finale, executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen previewed a few things that the show will explore in season 2. The first is the fate of Fitz, which Whedon says is still in flux:

Well, we know how he feels. But we're not positive how he made it through — or how far he made it through. There are still some questions to be answered there.

The two also said that Triplett would continue to be around next season and that they "actually cannot talk" about whether Patton Oswalt's return was as a clone, LMD, or twin. The executive producers did talk about what the major theme will be and how Ward's journey will parallel Coulson's:

Whedon: We saw in the finale it was a little bit of one step at a time with helping Garrett and now that they reached the finish line, he was looking to Garrett for answers and Garrett's not giving them to him, which emotionally affected Ward. For the first time he's lost, and how that will play out in Season 2 is one of the things we're excited to explore.

Tancharoen: In a way, there's a nice parallel between Agent Ward and Agent Coulson, two men who've sort of been stripped of everything they've believed in and are left with nothing — all of them, collectively, are searching for their purpose. What is the purpose of S.H.I.E.L.D.? How will they define themselves now? Now that Garrett is gone, what does that mean for Ward? Will he come to something on his own? That is something we hope to explore in Season 2.
