What Would the American Version of Hogwarts Be Like?

Illustration for article titled What Would the American Version of Hogwarts Be Like?

Yesterday, author J.K. Rowling let it slip that there’s a U.S. school for wizards and witches in the world of Harry Potter, and it will be featured in the upcoming movies Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This has us wondering: Given American’s various educational issues, what will it be like?

Have the students’ textbooks not been updated since 1886? Have Defense of the Dark Arts classes succumbed to the horrors of standardized testing? Has the U.S. school for witchcraft and wizardry also been forced to drop all of its art classes?

And most importantly, what will its name be? I’m voting for Reaganomicks, personally, but let’s hear your most magically educated ideas in the comments.

Remember how Hogwarts has that amazing dining hall that magically creates whatever food you wish for and refills your plate and drinks automatically?

In the U.S. you get a grilled cheese sandwich.
