Frederic Fontenoy's photo series Metamorphose depicts a nude, distended form traipsing across beaches and forests. The subject may be human, but the camera makes him alien. Is this what Reed Richards would look like if he hadn't invented unstable molecules?
Fontenoy's slit-scan photography transforms an ordinary human into a rubber-limbed monstrosity. The folks at Acephalous compare Fontenoy's 1988-1990 series to Octavia Butler's super-fast quadruped Clayaraks. I think these photos resemble Reed Richards had he grown up a naturist, a plot twist which would've put a trippy new spin on those Silver Age stories.
