What TV Shows For Kids Do You Still Want To Watch As An Adult?

Illustration for article titled What TV Shows For Kids Do You Still Want To Watch As An Adult?

Just because a television show is ostensibly for children doesn't mean that the over-18 set should be forced to miss out. What are your favorite kids' shows that keep you glued to the screen, regardless of age?

In response to this review of an extremely regrettable episode of Avengers Assemble, a discussion began about the shows that were doing it right:

Batman: The Animated Series. Superman: The Animated Series. Justice League. Spectacular Spider-Man. Justice League Unlimited. Batman Beyond. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Beware the Batman.

There's no reason a kid's show can't be full of high-quality writing and smart characters. And if you want it to be jokey and goofy, there's even a superior example for that, too - Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Everything I just cited is legions beyond what Avengers Assemble is doing.

That's a pretty good list to start with. What's on your list? Tell us about your favorite kids' shows with an ageless appeal, complete with favorite episodes and storylines.

Yeah, but is it really? Keep in mind, unless you've regularly been rewatching this stuff since then, in most cases you're probably relying on the memory and tastes of your preadolescent self. A person who would have to live another entire lifetime before their prefrontal cortex finished developing.

I mean, come on - I saw and loved both Austin Powers sequels - not to mention Undercover Brother* - and I know that shit doesn't hold up.
