What From Your Own Life Would You Put Into A Time Capsule?

Illustration for article titled What From Your Own Life Would You Put Into A Time Capsule?

Two hundred years from now, we will all be gone. But our stuff will live on far past our own expirations dates. What would you want to leave for future generations to shake their heads over/marvel at/pity?

Make your selections (something technical? something cultural? some sort of confusing futuristic easter egg?) for what you would leave in a time capsule and drop them into the comments. Make sure to include an explanation of why it's worth the space, and why the future needs to see it.

Since the assumption that is usually made when artifacts from the past are discovered are either related to fertility rituals or religious purposes, I think I would fill a time capsule with a Bible, a copy of "Stranger in a Strange Land", an obsidian knife, a dead, mummified chicken, one of the foot-filled shoes that keep washing up in Seattle, and a box of condoms with Justin Bieber's picture glued to the outside of the box. Let those assholes in the future try to figure out which was which.
