Watch today's spacewalk, live on io9!

NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy and ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano are scheduled to spend close to seven hours outside the International Space Station today, where they will venture in the first of two scheduled spacewalks for this month. Here's your chance to watch it live!

The space walk kicked off at 8:10 a.m. ET, and is scheduled to last until almost 3:00 p.m. ET. The primary goals of the spacewalk are to replace a communications transceiver, install new hardware (required for a Russian lab module scheduled to arrive at this ISS later this year) and to perform routine maintenance.

As always, the astronauts are outfitted in their trusty EMU spacesuits. Cassidy – call sign EV-1, wearing helmet-mounted camera number 20 – is wearing a suit with red stripes, while Parmitano – call sign EV-2, wearing helmet-cam number 17– has donned an unmarked suit.
