Forget the sketchy but hilarious Avetar, here's the real version of the teaser trailer for James Cameron's much anticipated Avatar. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll want to become a blue-skinned alien...

Following a somewhat mangled launch (Dear Apple, if you're going to have a countdown clock to something, it's always a good idea to have said thing ready once you reach zero, so that you don't get things like this:

Although maybe this is just following in the tradition of Avatar internet fail), the trailer was still unavailable on Apple's website an hour after its official US release. However, a version of it was available on France's MSN portal.

Avatar is released in the US December 18th.

I feel compelled to write a comment on this thread only because it seems that the people who are writing here have no sense of gratitude.

First off, let me preface by saying I think James Cameron is an arrogant ass. This is important to state at the beginning because I don't want you to believe that I am a defensive fanboy.

In this case, however, arrogance is justified.

The first film Cameron made was Terminator. He wrote the screenplay and directed it.

His second and third films were Rambo and Aliens. I'm sure you might have heard of them.

Hell, he decides to make a love story, and it turns out to be the Biggest fucking movie of the past 20 years.

Quick: think of another director whose grossed 1.8 Billion dollars with one film?

Name another director who has done that and been awarded 11 Oscars for his efforts on one film.

Name a director with as many technical accomplishments. His additions to the field of special effects alone are worthy of praise.

This man is responsible for some of the better Science fiction movies we have had the privilege of seeing. I know we like to pretend that there are other film makers who have his talent here.

If we are truthful, however, we should realize that his accomplishments should at least give this film the benefit of the doubt.

I'll be seeing it. I can't wait. Even when he disappointments, it's spectacular.
