Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon — creators of wonderful, Oscar-nominated The Secret of Kells — return with Song of the Sea, another Tomm Moore-directed blend of fantasy and folklore.

Irish superstars Brendan Gleeson and Fionnula Flanagan voice adult characters, but the story's mostly about a motherless boy and his little sister, who may or may not be a selkie — able to transform herself into a seal, as the legend goes.

Look for Song of the Sea to roll out in North American theaters starting December 19; in the meantime, check out the film's official blog here, and the trailer below.
