Before Clark Gregg was the mighty S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson, he cultivated his snappy banter as Special Agent Casper on The West Wing. And even though Gregg only appeared in eight episodes of Aaron Sorkin's series, Agent Casper is remembered for his ability to quip with the best of the White House staff. The resemblance between Coulson and Casper is striking, so we cobbled together the very best of early Coulson, before he was hanging with Marvel's heroes. (Fan fiction writers, start your engines.)

I just finished Sorkin's Sports Night last night and was happy to see "Agent Coulson" make an appearance there as well. I pretended it was in continuity with the Marvel Universe.
