We know the stories. We’ve read them. We’ve seen them made into movies, parodies and more. But we’ve never really seen the stories of Edgar Allan Poe like this. This is Extraordinary Tales.

Extraordinary Tales is an animated horror anthology featuring six, all-different animated versions of these classic Poe stories:

  • The Fall of the House of Usher
  • The Tell-Tale Heart
  • The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar
  • The Masque of the Red Death
  • The Pit and the Pendulum

Watching the trailer, which we are happy to exclusively debut here on io9, you just get drawn in by the beautiful yet varied animation, and the new interpretations of these stories. It just looks like a really entertaining, creepy movie.

And it gets better. The films feature the voices of some of the icons of the horror genre: Bela Lugosi, Guillermo del Toro, Roger Corman, Julian Sands and, in his final film role, Sir Christopher Lee.

Extraordinary Tales, directed by Raul Garcia, will be in select theaters and on-demand October 23.
