With the buzz swirling around the start of Comic-Con, it’s easy to forget Marvel Studios has their next big movie coming out just next week: Ant-Man. To help you remember, a viral video has come online setting up the new film and linking to the following one.
The video features Christine Everhart (really actress Leslie Bibb), last seen as a Vanity Fair reporter in Iron Man 2 but now a news anchor for WHIH. She’s talking about the aftermath of Avengers: Age of Ultron teasing that “government control and transparency when it comes to our superpowered citizens is going to continue to be a hot button topic.” From what we’ve heard, she’s very much correct. That’s the crux of the conflict between Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in Captain America: Civil War.
But before we get to that film, out next May, the news shifts to a seemingly unrelated story. That of thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who robbed a major corporation he worked for and gave the money back to its clients. Apparently, he’s getting out of prison in just 10 days. Wait. Today is July 7. Ant-Man opens in ten days on July 17. That’s probably just coincidence.
