For an exhibit on cinematic practical effects at Tokyo's Museum of Contemporary Art, Neon Genesis Evangelion director Hideaki Anno and Studio Ghibli have teamed up for a live-action featurette based on Hayao Miyazaki's post-apocalyptic cartoon classic Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

This short ‚ÄĒ Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo ‚ÄĒ stars the world-ending monsters from the beginning of the film with a nifty twist. These bio-weapons are done up in the live-action tokusatsu style, so ‚ÄĒ according to Anno ‚ÄĒ expect tiny doomed cities and no CG shots (and hopefully the occasional rubber suit). The exhibit runs until October 8, so there's no need to stampede with ohmu-like alacrity if you're in the neighborhood.
