Virtual Reality Theme Park Will Let You Step Inside A Video Game

If this bold new idea for a virtual reality theme park is real, we’ll be first in line, because this is as close as your ever going to get to a holodeck/dreamatorium. It’s like actually being inside a video game.

Utah is opening up a virtual reality park that sounds bananas amazing, if they can pull it off. The above video is the park’s demonstration reel (and is probably a little hopeful), however the whole thing feels like a combination of laser tag meets Oculus Rift with real-life FX such as fog and wing and fake spider webs and all that good creepy stuff. The place is called “The Void” and they’re aiming to provide a 360-degree virtual world that you can fight in. Here’s the official description from the YouTube page:

At THE VOID you will walk into new dimensions and experience worlds without limits. From fighting intergalactic wars on alien planets, to casting spells in the darkest of dungeons, THE VOID presents the future of entertainment. Only limited by imagination, our advanced Virtual-Reality technologies allow you to see, move, and feel our digital worlds in a completely immersive and realistic way.

It’s already got a website up and running and big beautiful dreams of letting kids run around with very expensive equipment strapped to their heads. Hey, if it works, we’ll be first in line. And hoping not to barf. Love it.

Hannibal the Cannibal

As long it doesn’t turn out to be too close to an actual holodeck, in which case it will inevitably malfunction and try to kill all the players.
