Our favorite Furian shared some good news and some bad news about the new Riddick movie. The good news is, it might start filming this summer. The bad news, Diesel's salary woes may halt the project completely.

Diesel broke the news over on his Facebook page saying:

D T the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch... in order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the "Find me Guilty" experience (which I wouldn't have changed for the world)...

Money is always second to art, integrity and spirit... but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place... called Riddick.

Now, I need to hear from Our collective... you. Wisdom and clarity appreciated.

What is he expecting? Does he dream that his Facebook followers to rise up and scream, "We Are Legion! Give the struggling Hollywood artist Vin Diesel more money! His tenth garage isn't going to wallpaper itself!" I highly doubt a studio exec would even give the tiniest of fucks in all of giving a fuckdom if they received 1 or 100,000 emails asking them to pay Diesel more money. The bottom line is, R rated films don't make a lot of cash, so this project is already a gamble.

On the other hand, Diesel did develop one of the most successful car movie franchises ever made, so pay him what he's worth. And I want a new Riddick movie so bad I'd be willing to contribute to the man's salary. But going online about it seems a little, well, riddickulous.

Let's hope these budget woes don't stand in the way of a third Riddick movie — we need this art brought to the people.

I can't really tell what he's asking for, but it doesn't seem to asking for a letter-writing campaign demanding more money for him. I think he's just looking to hear that people really want him to make the movie, because apparently the validation will tide him over, even if the paycheck doesn't.
