The finale of USA’s buzzed about hacker show Mr. Robot will not be seen Wednesday evening because of a scene that shared similarities with the tragic shooting in Virginia earlier today.

In a statement, USA said the following: “The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia. Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”

The new episode will now air next week, September 2, with the penultimate episode re-airing this evening.

It’s the right thing to do, and kudos to USA for taking that step. I remember being a Buffy fan, and WB delayed the airing of their Graduation Day finale because a large portion of the episode involved students with automatic weapons and several of them being killed.

As a fan, it was a bummer, but at the same time I understood why it wasn’t really something I could watch at the time.
