Tonight, We All Need a Funky Trip Through Space With Electronic Music Legend Jean-Jacques Perrey

Pioneering musician Jean-Jacques Perrey passed away earlier this week at the age of 87, leaving a legacy that helped lay the foundation for electronic pop music as we know it today. He was also a longtime scifi fan who looked to the genre for inspiration. As a tribute, his collaborator Dana Countryman shared this wonderfully goofy video they made with director Mal Meehan in 2008.

I bought Perrey’s 1966 album The In Sound From Way Out when I was in high school. It was a gas. You can find it on YouTube, it’s worth a listen. RIP.
