Earlier this week we broke the news that Ben Wheatley's adaptation of J.G. Ballard's High Rise would be set in 1975 (the same time the book was published). And now we have even better news: Tom Hiddleston will be star in this horror feature. Amazing.

Director Ben Wheatley took to Twitter to announce that Hiddleston would be starring in this class warfare movie. He shared a link to a brand new High Rise poster with the short statement saying "Here we go. Cant quite believe this is happening. Tom Hiddleston! Jeremy Thomas! Script by Amy Jump! JG BALLARD!"

The book is set inside a massive, luxury high rise. But as time moves on inside the isolated building, a class war breaks out between the upper, middle and lower levels of residents, and things descend into epic violence pretty rapidly. This book is DARK. In our last interview with Wheatley, he revealed that his adaptation will be set in 1975:

Yeah, well, I mean it's going to look like the '70s. It's going to be very styled in that way. We're looking at the Ridley Scott adverts of that period. It's going to be modern in a way that the '70s looked. In a way that, "I don't know what the future looks like anymore," which is quite funny. We're already in Buck Rogers land now. Aren't we? We've all got phones, it's not that exciting. But back then they had a real idea of what the future was going to be like, and it was much more stylish.

Which sounds like a truly interesting idea. Plus, we cannot wait to see Tom Hiddleston get bloody in 1975 retro-future gear. This is good news.

Absolutely awesome news. Love the book. Love Tom Hiddleston. Love Ben Wheatley.

If you haven't seen Kill List, I recommend that you do so as soon as possible. You may love it, you may not. But it'll stay with you (I, for one, am in the love it camp - one of the best horror movies of recent years).
