Today in nightmare fuel: fleshy geometric heads get glitchy

So... I think I'll sleep with the light on tonight.

"Parametric Expression" is the work of Amsterdam-based artist Mike Pelletier. Described as "a series of ambient video loops exploring quantified emotion," it's a little under three minutes of captivating – if a little unsettling – audio/visual stimulation. Three parts uncanny valley, two parts pink slime, one part buggy GPU and just a dash of whimsy. It's creepy as all hell and we love it. Make sure you stick it out to around the 50 second mark – that's where things really get weird.

there is a job in visual effects/animation/games called "Rigging" (some people call it other things but this will do).

very basically this involves placing bones/joints in a hierarchy (for the animators) and then associating the points of the mesh (the model) to those bones so that they move in a way that looks natural.

this is the job I've done for about 10 years.

this video is telling me that if I had done my job VERY BADLY I can call it Art.
