Tobey Maguire had three outings as Peter Parker / Spider-Man under Sam Raimi, and that torch has since been passed along to Andrew Garfield and now Tom Holland. Earlier this week, Maguire passed along his praise in an entertaining way.

Maguire has praised Garfield for his performance as the character in the past, but earlier this week he posted a short fan video after seeing Holland’s performance in Captain America: Civil War:

At some point, some Comic Con is going to have the three of these guys on stage together.

Yeah, I was wary about Holland based on just photos and seeing little of his previous work, but I gave him a chance, and they BLEW IT OUT OF THE WATER.

[minor spoilers]

Civil War had easily the best Spider-Man ever committed to film, by far. Not only the Peter Parker stuff, but the effects, the costume — everything. Hell, I’ll even take the increasingly-younger Aunt May...why not. (They even got his accent right, which was a feat considering Tom’s original one.)

And best of all, they had Tony treat Peter properly — like a young budding scientist, and the kid genius he’s supposed to be. He created his own web formula again — YES!

I was worried Stark would be responsible for all of Peter’s tech and ideas, but in the film, he only refined and improved Peter’s gear, he didn’t originate it. Perfect.
