TNT has postponed tonight’s planned season three premiere of apocalyptic drama The Last Ship due to the mass shooting in Orlando. According to TV Line, the episode contains a scene of a gunman opening fire inside of a nightclub in Vietnam, as well as taking hostages as part of “a major Season 3 arc.”
The Last Ship, set in a world in which humankind faces extinction thanks to a deadly virus, is executive-produced by Michael Bay. TNT has not released an official statement or announced when the episode would air, but did confirm the scheduling change to TV Line.
Update: Deadline has the TNT statement:
“As a result of the shootings this weekend in Orlando, tonight’s originally scheduled season premiere of The Last Ship has been postponed,” TNT said in a statement. “Our hearts are with the victims and their families.”
Deadline also notes that the premiere consists of two hour-long episodes back-to-back, and that the shooting scene takes place in the first hour.
