Timur Bekmambetov is making a movie about flesh-eating squirrels

Trailer FrenzyA special place to find the newest trailers for movies and TV shows you're craving.

Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter director Timur Bekmambetov is turning his sights on the fluffy menace that is squirrel-kind. And although there's no word on production starting, the movie apparently already has a promo trailer.

In May, Red Sea Media announced that it was partnering with Timur Bekmambetov on Squirrels, a horror film about, well, killer squirrels. There isn't any word on a director or actors, but supposedly that's the promo trailer up there. It's about as absurd as you'd expect.

Also, via Bleeding Cool, here is the synopsis:

When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery. Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds his mom’s sleazy new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental destruction by the gas company.

When are they going to learn that you can't purposefully make a cult movie? Cult movies become cult movies because of the sincerity behind them. This will be made tongue-in-cheek. That shit doesn't work.

I can guarantee this will roll out exactly like Snakes on a Plane. Enthusiastic internet reaction, empty theaters.
