The Suicide Shop is a strange, morbid animation set in the future where everyone is so depressed they can't stop killing themselves. Thus the most popular shop in town is The Suicide Shop. We've spotted the trailer for the French film and it is horrifying.

The Suicide Shop

Based on Jean Teule's novel (which I haven't read so let me know if I'm not supposed to get the chills over this trailer) the animated flick is directed by

Imagine a city where people have no taste for anything, so that the shop is the most flourishing that sell fish and ropes to hang themselves. But the boss has just given birth to a child who is the joy of living flesh. Suicides at the store, the worm in the fruit ...

We all already know that Sasha Roiz is amazing, and his latest bit of work (which will be screening at this years SXSW), Extracted looks like child of The Cell and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Behold the trailer for Extracted where folks can invade the memories of convicts to find out if they did it!

Thomas Jacobs invents a way to watch people's memories from the inside. Going against his morals, he accepts an offer to enter a heroin addict's memories to literally see if he committed a crime. However, a malfunction causes his consciousness to become trapped inside the criminal's mind. He remains a prisoner in the addict's memories for more than four years until he discovers the possibility of escape.

And while we're on the topic of mind tapping, check out this short Anamnesis, which is all about stealing memories! Shot on a "shoe-string" budget in LA, we think this little cyber punk quickie is quite fun.

'Anamnesis' is a cyberpunk short film set in the near-future about a man named 'Fix' who is so desperate to escape his troubled past that he finds a way to replace it by stealing other peoples' memories and injecting them into his mind to relive as his own experiences. Wealth isn't the only thing that separates the 'haves' from the 'have-nots'. A better life is out there... you just have to steal it from someone else.
