Astronaut Karen Nyberg's son is getting a special gift when she gets home from her latest mission: a toy Tyrannosaurus she made from scraps while aboard the International Space Station.

Nyberg posted this photo of the toy to her Pinterest board:

Made in space!! I made this dinosaur for my son last Sunday, September 22. It is made out of velcro-like fabric that lines the Russian food containers found here on the International Space Station. It is lightly stuffed with scraps from a used t-shirt. KN from space.

collectSPACE notes that, while many space travelers have brought toys into space—sometimes as good luck charms—this may be the first toy actually fabricated in space. Hopefully, Nyberg's three-year-old son Jack will treasure the dinosaur for decades to come.

goody sossajes is a SCARY GHOST aaaaahhhhh!!! ?

I cannot imagine anything more perfect than an extinct species, made in an environment we will likely not conquer and find habitable, stuffed with our daily personal wear that represents our differentiation between human and animal, presented as a toy to a child. I'm not making a joke, this is just the most profound toy ever made.
