This live-action Dragonball Z fan movie is not only better than the real movie, it's good

Saying that something is better than the 2009 live-action Dragonball: Evolution movie is not exactly a compliment. There are car accidents I'd prefer to be in before watching that movie again. So when I say this fan-made trailer for a live-action DBZ movie is better than the Hollywood movie, please don't use that as an excuse not to watch it, because it's actually also spectacular.

From the YouTube description:

We are two brothers who run a small video production company in the UK. We've been Producing, Directing, Shooting and editing for our company for over 5 years now and have always talked about doing a Dragonball Z Fan Film. We grew up watching DBZ and it provided many years of entertainment and enjoyment for us as we're sure it did for many of you. We, like every other DBZ fan, were sorely disappointed with Hollywood's attempt and producing a live action DBZ film. So this May we are set to shoot an extended Live action Fan trailer for the Saiyan Saga!

Let me list a few things this fan-made trailer does better than Dragonball: Evolution did:

• Accuracy to the source material
• Lack of cultural imperialism
• Costumes
• Special effects
• Action
• Direction
• Editing
• Acting (hey, these guys aren't Gene Hackman, but have you seen Justin Chatwin in DB:E? Bleaurgh.)
• Sound
• Lighting
• Catering
• Everything else

And I'm going to take a wild guess and say these brothers didn't have to spend $45 million to achieve this level of quality. Advantage: These guys. And everybody else in the world who did not contribute to making Dragonball: Evolution.

My god, this is terrible.

Look, don't get me wrong. DBZ is one of my greatest guilty pleasures, and I enjoy watching it fairly often. But it's pretty bad. It's silly, nonsensical, and overly dramatic. Trying to make it a live-action show makes no sense. Trying to make a live-action show that is literally just a shot-for-shot remake of the original is absurd to a mindblowing degree.

Also, DB: Evolution was a live-action remake of Dragonball, not DBZ. While they are the same manga, the styles are drastically different (especially if you compare early DB with late DBZ).

If you *really* wanted to revive DBZ (and I think that's probably a bad idea), the best thing you could do is some sort of animated reboot, or continuation. Live action ... just, no. No.

I get making this video as sort of a love letter from the fans, and that's fine, there are some cool effects. But can you actually imagine anyone in their right mind, even DBZ fans (possibly especially DBZ fans) wanting to watch an extended version of this?
