This is what fireworks look like in reverse

In a stunning twist on an already impressive spectacle, filmmaker Julian Tay decided to see what would happen if he digitally reversed this year's NYE fireworks display over Docklands in Melbourne, Australia. The results were fantastic.

Writes Tay:

Was curious to see what fireworks would look like if I played it backwards. Turns out, it looks pretty awesome. Playing it in reverse gives it that cool slow-mo feel which is strangely soothing and tranquil. Totally opposite of the true nature of fireworks.

Isn't this expected in Australia? The seasons are reversed, water goes down the drain in the wrong direction and fireworks implode instead of explode?
