Young-adult fiction is become more mature, as a publishing category. And that means that instead of a host of cookie-cutter books, that are all “dystopias” or whatnot, there’s a huge variety of subjects. ReadBreatheRelax has a great list of YA books coming in 2016, and what’s great is they all sound pretty different from each other. A few of these just went to the top of my “must read” list, too.
On the topic of YA, I just found out this weekend that The Giver (one of very few books I read as school assignments that I actually enjoyed) was actually the first of a quartet. I bought it and devoured the first two this weekend (rereading The Giver as an adult was fun, and much shorter than I remembered). The second book is very different from the first, but you can see similarities in themes. I’m excited to find out where this is going, because I know they get tied together in the end.
