Disney’s live-action remake of The Jungle Book was a surprise hit, and it deserved its success. It really is a wonderful film and now, with the Blu-ray on the way, we’re learning some of its secrets.
Take, for example, this exclusive clip from one of the Blu-ray extras where director Jon Favreau talks about the opening shot of the film and how many subtle winks to Disney history he put just in the single shot. You’ll be surprised.
Did you catch any of that when you saw the film? I’m guessing not. It’s part of a feature on the Blu-ray called “The Jungle Book: Reimagined” which looks at the history, not just of the film, but the property itself, going back to its original Rudyard Kipling stories. (Though probably not into everything.)
You can find out more when the excellent new version of The Jungle Book is released digitally August 23 and on Blu-ray August 30. (The 3D version will be out later this year.)
