The Walking Dead Gives Us A First Glimpse At The Show's Next Big Badass

Morning SpoilersIf there’s news about upcoming movies and television you’re not supposed to know, you’ll find it in here.

George Miller is already being rumored for another DC movie. How many of the original songs will appear in the new Jungle Book? Marvel confirms that Misty Knight is in Luke Cage. Plus, set pictures from Rogue One, Game of Thrones casting, and a new clip from The Martian. So Many Spoilers!

Director Rupert Wyatt has left the film, citing scheduling conflicts after the film’s production dates were pushed—however, The Hollywood Reporter further adds that an allegedly spiraling budget and script issues also forced Wyatt’s departure. [CBR]

Star Wars: Episode VIII

Benicio Del Toro denies that his character in the film is a villain, as previously reported:

I don’t know if he’s a villain. People are saying that, but it’s like they read a different script than I read.

Filming has continued at Skellig Michael for the film, with Mark Hamill being spotted on set, confirming the somewhat obvious news that Luke survives the events of The Force Awakens. [CBR]

Justice League Dark

Hot on the heels of being rumored for Man of Steel 2, Mad Max director George Miller is now being mentioned as a possible replacement for Guillermo Del Toro on the supernatural superhero teamup film. [/Film]

Kong: Skull Island

The benefits of movie’s switch over to Warner Bros. for Godzilla tie-ins are already making themselves clear: the film’s script now apparently includes references to the 2014 Godzilla film, specifically Monarch, the monster-fighting organization. [Coming Soon]

Bourne 5

Ato Essandoh has been cast in an undisclosed role. [/Film]

The Jungle Book

Jon Faverau clarifies how the movie will use some of the songs from the animated classic during a Twitter Q and A:

Star Wars: Rogue One

TMZ have a series of set photos from filming, featuring what appears to be a crashed ship... and several lifeless Stormtrooper bodies scattered around a beach. [Coming Soon]

The Martian

Fear the Botanical might of Mark Watney in this new clip from the film.

The Walking Dead

ET Online (warning: autoplaying video at the link) has acquired a series of pictures from filming, that purport to show an unnamed actor playing the role of the popular Comic character Paul “Jesus” Monroe. The unidentified actor has a similar appearance to the comics character, and is seen teaming up with several of the show’s main characters.

TV Guide and People have “first looks” at Maggie and Daryl from the sixth season.

Doctor Who

Writer Toby Whithouse discusses his two part episode “Under the Lake/Before the Flood”

I’ve always wanted to do a timey-wimey episode. In fact, it was going to be a lot more timey-wimey, but we lost some of that before we started filming. It’s enormous fun to deposit something in a script, then have the reason for it happen later.

Yesterday’s reports about Jenna Coleman’s alleged impending departure from the show have taken a bizarre turn: BBC News itself was declined a comment from Coleman or the BBC’s drama department about the news, leading to the strange scenario of the BBC reporting on a rumor about one of its own shows. Whether that lends any credence to the reports remains to be seen.

Game Of Thrones

Watchers on the Wall are reporting that three members of Sam’s family, the Tarlys, have been cast: James Faulkner will play Sam’s father Randyll, Samantha Spiro his unnamed mother, and Rebecca Benson his unnamed sister.

Luke Cage

Jeph Loeb has confirmed recent rumors that Simone Missick has been cast as former NYPD officer/bionic-arm-wielding private detective Misty Knight in the series. Although original reports described the character as being named “Missy”, Loeb specifically refers to Missick as playing Misty Knight—so presumably the character will keep her original comic book name on the show:

We know fans have waited years to see Misty Knight brought to life, so we had to find the right actress. Simone blew us away with her performance as the strong-willed cop on a mission.

Rob Thomas sets up the beginning of season 2:

Well, there are no more scenes at Meat Cute. That has been blown up, and Blaine has a new business we will reveal in the first episode. Liv is, largely, on the outs with people close to her. Major has trouble grappling with what Liv chose not to tell him; Peyton is still gone; and things are understandably tense with any surviving family members she has from Season 1.
