Trailer FrenzyA special place to find the newest trailers for movies and TV shows you're craving.

The best way to get interested in this new Hitman: Agent 47 trailer is to take a page out of the film’s main character: Empty your brain. Forget this is the second adaptation of the popular video game series.

Once you get rid of that baggage and consider the new film, directed by Aleksander Bach and scheduled for release August 21, there’s lots to be cautiously optimistic about here. Lots of good looking set pieces, intriguing plot twists, and plenty of slow motion bullets, explosions and martial arts for even the weariest action fan.

As you can see in the trailer above, Hitman: Agent 47 is about an elite, genetically-engineered assassin who is forced to question his existence when the tables are turned and the hunter becomes the hunted. It’s your classic me-against-the-world scenario, with plenty of room—hopefully—for story and character, along with the obvious action beats.

But will Hitman work this time, after the disappointing first outing? It’s very questionable. Take the cast for example: a nice mix of “Oh yeah, I know that guy” and “Where do I remember that girl from?” Rupert Friend, best known for his role on Homeland, is 47, the elite assassin gone rogue. From the trailer, you can’t tell if this is will be his action coming out, or his swan song. Hopefully the former. There’s Hannah Ware, who appeared on Boss and in the remake of Oldboy. Then you’ve got Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), Ciarán Hinds (every movie ever) and even Thomas Kretschmann, who we last saw in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Basically, it’s a mix bag of tried and true and maybe some solid up and comers. We’ll find out if the formula works on August 21.
