A new TBS pilot from actor-writer-producer Aubrey Plaza combines two of horror TV’s big trends right now: the anthology format (American Horror Story, Channel Zero, Lifetime’s upcoming A Midsummer’s Nightmare) and comedy (Ash vs Evil Dead). But the show, called Nightmare Time, also sounds totally unique.
Check out the description, via TV Line:
Set in Aubrey Plaza’s Nightmare Clinic, celebrity guests check in to overcome recurring nightmares. Thanks to advanced technology, we’re able to peer into their restless minds, and witness their nightmares in real time. But what is ‘real’ anyway? Maybe it’s all just a nightmare in Aubrey’s mind. One endless nightmare that could eventually destroy her and the entire world.
If the kooky-sounding show gets picked up, each episode will explore two nightmares that poke fun at both the modern world and horror tropes. Plaza—whose current gig is FX’s X-Men drama Legion, though she’s most familiar from TV shows like Parks and Recreation and movies like Safety Not Guaranteed—will co-write and guest-star in the pilot.
