Clive Barker is rebooting his classic horror series Hellraiser, and now we finally have an idea what this new series will center around.

In a long, wonderful interview with Entertainment Weekly about the Blu-Ray release of Nightbreed, Barker spilled the beans on his idea for a new, new Hellraiser (which Barker is writing himself):

"I wanted to make sure we sounded some fresh notes. The movie actually begins on Devil's Island. I wanted to fold into the Hellraiser narrative something about the guy—the Frenchman Lemarchand—who made the mysterious box, which raises Pinhead. I figured, 'Well, what would have happened to him?' He might well have been taken to Devil's Island and I thought that would be a pretty cool place to start the movie."

Lemarchand has been portrayed on film before (specifically in Hellraiser IV: Bloodline),but this sounds like we would get a much more in-depth look at the older history behind conjuring up the Cenobites—and perhaps something a lot closer to the Barker novella.

We're just glad Pinhead is coming back!
