The First Clip From Life Offers a Valuable Lesson: Don't Touch Things in Space

Odds are, touching unknown things in space? Not gonna go well.

Sony has released a new extended peek at Life, its upcoming space horror movie about a group of astronauts on the ISS, who find alien life, try touching it, and then then things go horribly wrong from there.

It’s a moment that’s been in pretty much all of the trailers we’ve seen so far, but the whole scene is actually still tense and hell to watch play out. They probably should titled the whole movie Don’t Touch Space Things rather than something as generic as Life, in hindsight.

Life is set to hit theaters March 24.

We need to create something akin to Asimov’s Laws of Robotics for space travelers/scientist/colonists.

1. Did you bring it with you from Earth? No? Then don’t touch it.

2. Is it moving? Don’t touch it. Back up. No further back.

3. Are you messing around with something that’s not in your lane? For example are you a geologist and you see something that looks like a living organism? Don’t touch it. Is it moving? See rule #2.

4. Is the place you’re heading to have a history of known hostile life forms? If yes, do you have a platoon of Space Marine with you? No? Don’t go there. Yes? Doesn’t matter don’t go there.

5. Are you secretly an android who works for an evil corporation with a secret agenda that considers everyone expendable? Asking for a friend.
