The Entire Marvel Universe Teams Up to Fight Kang in First Trailer for Lego Marvel Superheroes 2

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

There are certain team ups (like Ms. Marvel, Spider-Gwen, Gamora, and Vision) that we’re probably never going to get a chance to see in Marvel’s cinematic universe. Thank goodness, then, that we have the Lego franchise to make those dream teams come true in all their minifig glory.

In the original LEGO Marvel Superheroes video game, players could choose from a roster of 180 Marvel characters to form the sorts of teams that, due to inter-studio licensing agreements, would be nearly impossible to pull off. In the first trailer for the game’s upcoming sequel, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment doubles down on the original’s quirky humor and introduces a bevy of new characters from current and upcoming Marvel movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok.

In a press event today, the game’s lead designer Arthur Parsons explained that LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 will resume immediately where the original game left off—with the Guardians announcing that they’ve come to earth to deal with a new threat the planet’s heroes aren’t ready for. This time around, Kang the Conqueror is messing with the flow of time, a plot element that will work both in players’ favor and against them.

“We really wanted this game to be all about time,” Parsons said. “Characters running out of time, characters coming from different time periods, things being manipulated in time, so we have a lot of time manipulation in the game.”

LEGO Marvel Superheroes hits stores on November 14th.

I don’t see any X-Men in that trailer even though they were in the first Lego Super Heroes game.
