Earlier this year it was reported that 20th Century Fox had optioned Boom Studios’ 2014 graphic novel, The Empty Man, by Eisner Award-winning writer Cullen Bunn and illustrator Vanesa R. Del Rey. Now we finally have a leading man—World War Z and Iron Man 3's James Badge Dale.

According to The Hollywood Reporter. Dale will be playing the role of an ex-cop on the hunt for a missing girl. Based upon the source material, one may assume that Dale’s character will also have to deal with the Empty Man, an incurable pandemic that has ravaged the world, causing victims to succumb to such symptoms as homicidal rage and suicidal dementia.

Yet The Hollywood Reporter also states that Prior’s adaptation “takes some departures.” At the very least, the movie is still a supernatural thriller, so there should be no major tonal shift. But who really knows this early on?

No word yet on a release date, simply that shooting may start this fall in South Africa.

Came close to making a PlayStation game that combined Final Fantasy & Charles In Charge. No joke.
