When the Philae lander touched down on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, it unleashed a series of Internet memes— most of which were references to the film Armageddon. And within 24 hours, the Aerosmith song "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing" from the movie soundtrack was spiking on Spotify.

According to data released on Spotify's blog, the spike occurred on November 13th, the day after the comet landing. "It makes sense, actually," wrote Spotify. "[The] ESA tweeted the first image of the landing at 1:45am ET on November 13th, and the official media briefing about the landing was also the following day. And of course the memes were gathering steam throughout."

Being in elementary school in the 1st half of the 90's, I was a huge Aerosmith fan - it was the only era I watched MTV, and was the Alicia Silverstone-video years. And I remember being so pissed off, because I was completely unaware that they had never reached #1 on the charts, until they finally did so - after being around for nearly 30 years at the time - with that stupid "Armageddon" song.

My friend was a huge U2 fan, and we'd argue over which band was better - and U2 had recently released this crappy Pop album. I was forced to concede.
