Whether they realize it or not, anyone who has been on social media over the past few years knows the work of Truck Torrance, aka 100% Soft. He makes the emojis that often auto-populate for Star Wars, Marvel, the X-Men, and so many others. And, this weekend, he’s bringing his instantly recognizable and wholly pleasing visual style to a very surprising and unique set of posters.

The show is called “Kawaiidoscopes” and it opens at 7:00 pm on March 2 at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. The show is comprised solely of lenticular prints, which are prints that move depending on how you look at them. You can see an example above, and here are three of the pieces in the show, including two that are exclusive to io9. And yes, these are GIFs.

“I had been toying with the idea of doing lenticular prints for the show and thought using kaleidoscopic images would be a good marriage to the medium,” Torrence told io9. “There can be a lot of fun to be had with the patterns and depth. I really just wanted to do some cute psychedelic kawaii freakouts.”

Since he’s so well known for media people that normally see on computers, when he does make tangible art, he likes it to be more than just a piece of paper. “I always like my physical work to have some sort of interactive element to it,” he said. “With some of the pieces you want to poke [a] finger through and try and touch the characters, and that makes for a pretty fun experience.”

Posters have also been revealed for The Simpsons, Harry Potter, and Batman—but you’ll have to wait to see what other subjects he chose. “Kawaiidoscopes” opens March 2 and remains on display through March 24 at Gallery 1988, 7308 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles CA. Anything that’s not sold at the opening will go on sale online March 3. Follow @Galleries1988 for all the info.
