What is happening to Steven Spielberg's time traveling dinosaur drama Terra Nova? First it's pulled from the Comic Con line-up. Now it's being pushed back to Fall 2011.

A recent press release from Fox broke the news to everyone looking forward to the time-traveling TV series, that we'll all have to wait another year. Why? Because of marketing!

"TERRA NOVA will be one of the most visually stimulating and dramatically grand series to air on network television," said Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. "It deserves to have an equally unique launch to distinguish that the show is unlike any other, and the spring promotional platform will give us the perfect opportunity to introduce this bold show to audiences."

So Spring is the best time to launch this series, for the following Fall. But since no one has seen any footage, not at SDCC or at Upfronts, we're leaning more towards the idea that Terra Nova isn't even remotely close to being finished by January. Which makes sense, since making a show about a family that time travels from the future to the past to try and find a better future sounds like it would have an excessive amount of FX.

Let me translate for you.

"We've seen the show and we think it's awful. We're going to lose buckets of money on it. But it has Spielberg's name on it so we can't just shelve it. Maybe people will forget about it. Maybe we can retool it. Maybe we can goad him into pulling out so he looks like a diva and we save face and money by hiring his non-union Mexican equivalent. Maybe we'll all have new jobs by then and it will be someone else's problem. The only thing I know for sure is we're not releasing this train wreck till we have to and until we can preempt it with baseball playoff games."
