Squarepusher's Trippy New VR Video Puts You In Control Of The View

UK-based electronic musician Tom Jenkinson — a.k.a. Squarepusher — has released a highly entertaining, and at times bizarre, fully immersive virtual reality video for “Stor Eiglass,” the latest single from his new album, Damogen Furies.

In the video, you take on the POV of a headless woman as she ventures through a fantastically surreal environment bursting with psychedelic colors. As she makes her way around, you can control where she looks. The video is available via YouTube 360 (above), and also through an iOS app, Google Cardboard, Samsung’s Gear VR smartphones, and even a Google Chrome tab (use the W/A/S/D keys to navigate).

The video was designed to be watched in fully immersive 3D. Viewers are encouraged to download the video via the Oculus Rift store.

“We mimicked the track’s theme of twisting a genre to become the antidote of everything it stands for by using VR to frivolously highlight the possible perils of VR addiction,” noted Marshmallow Laser Feast’s creative director Robin McNicholas in a statement. “It was just an honest response to how the track appears to start as a super club anthem before subverting everything in the way Squarepusher does so well.”
