The Thor: Ragnarok poster being used to market the film in Western markets was already fantastic (as was the version featuring extra Jeff Goldblums), but South Korea’s promotional art is a thing of utter beauty and a nod to the country’s history.

Fitting in with Ragnarok‚Äôs plot that pits Thor and the Hulk against one another in the gladiatorial ring, South Korea‚Äôs poster is a tribute to Gim Hong-do‚Äôs classical ‚ÄúSangbak‚ÄĚ painting from the late 1700s.

In Gim’s original painting, a group of men have gathered to watch a wrestling match, the country’s national sport:


‚ÄúSangbak‚ÄĚ is an iconic piece of South Korean history and the painting‚Äôs reimagining‚ÄĒfor a Thor movie‚ÄĒis pretty damn cool.
