Short But Sweet Ghost in the Shell Footage Homages the Original Anime

Eight seconds of movie footage isn’t usually something worth posting, but when it’s as significant as this teaser for the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie’s first trailer, you have to make an exception.

In the clip, a thermo-optically camouflaged Major beats the hell out of some dude before uncloaking. It’s a clear reference to this 1995 movie, where a similarly invisible Motoko also beats the hell of some dude in a similarly wet locale (it begins at about the five-minute mark):

Both Motoko and Scarlett Johansson’s Major are also wearing similarly nude-ish body suits, although I can’t quite tell if the Major is also sporting Motoko’s thermo-optically camouflage-friendly thigh high white stockings. I wouldn’t be surprised, though.

The full trailer debuts sometime on or after November 13.

Not to throw grammar at you like a bag of poop or something, but how do you homage something? Surely, you would pay homage, instead?
