Secrets of Rise of Planet of the Apes' Epic Golden Gate Bridge Battle!

The bloody final battle between humans and apes was the climax of this summer's blockbuster Rise of the Planet of the Apes. But how did Fox capture a human-vs.-animal showdown on the legendary Golden Gate Bridge?

Simple: Weta Digital, and lots and lots of ape-men in grey performance-capture pajamas. Watch how this film brought an imaginary war to life, in this exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the DVD extras.

This clip is a part of the DVD's "Breaking Motion Capture Boundaries" featurette, which focuses in on performance capture technology (not motion capture technology mind you). Rise of the Planet of the Apes's Blu-ray and DVD will hit shelves on December 13th.

Shenanigans!

The epic last between apes and humans on the Golden Gate Bridge...? I have not seen the film, so at first I thought it was cool. But then it's ridiculous...

What the hell happened to our Air Force? WTH? We can't take out the Golden Gate with a couple of HAARMs? Hmmm. Let's see... Beloved landmark vs. freaky smart talking apes.

Sorry, I know what I'd choose.. Buh-bye Golden Gate. Long live humanity...!

Please, someone, please tell me our armed forces were knocked out of commission. And it's not just some moral quandary about whether we should kill the talking super-smart apes, and accept civilian and collateral damage.
