Both Watchmen and Terminator Salvation video game trailers are out. One looks amazing, the other will probably give Alan Moore a heart attack. Guess which one.
Watchmen: The End Is Nigh is a perfect name for this video game. At least that must be what Alan Moore is thinking as his troubled heroes tackle and punch down faceless bad guys. Granted, Dave Gibbons is attached, but this whole thing just rubs me the wrong way. I read Watchmen to experience real loss and grapple with weighty issues along with the characters caught in a nonsensical alternate universe with super powers. I don't really know how it's going to translate in a video game.
The game is set to release in March, 2009 and will be available on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
Then on the other hand there's the Terminator Salvation video game, to which I say: Bring it the hell on. I want to shoot down flying Terminators and Harvesters, beings that were most likely created so I could one day try and kill them from the comfort of my living room. Plus, they owe me a new Terminator game. It's been too long.
When I first wrote about the Terminator Salvation video game, many of you warned me not to get too excited, but surely this new trailer will change your mind. It just has good potential, plus you get to shoot down the motorcycle terminators from the back of Kyle Reese's killer truck. Check out the screen grabs below. I honestly think this could be pretty spectacular. Plus take a look at some of the new robot faces that are debuting in the game, like the spidey bot below. The game will be released in May 2009.
And for kicks here is a clip from Terminator 2 NES (an impossible game):
