There may have been hopes that Big Hero 6 star Ryan Potter would become the new Robin in Ben Affleck’s solo Batman film, but for now he looks to be joining a different Robin’s team. The actor has been cast as Beast Boy in DC’s upcoming digital series Titans.

Titans is about a group of teenage superheroes recruited by Robin/Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) to help save the world. According to Deadline’s description of the character in this show, Garfield “Gar” Logan contracted Sakutia, a deadly disease, but was cured with an experimental drug that turned his hair and skin green and gave him the ability to shape-shift into just about any animal. Now called Beast Boy, Gar joins characters like Starfire (Anna Diop), Raven (Teagan Croft), and a few others.

The news comes as especially exciting for Potter, since he’s clearly wanted to join the DC family for a while. Last year, he filmed himself performing a range of complicated stunts as Tim Drake’s Robin in hopes of getting Affleck’s attention for a role in his Batman movie. Rumors have been flying for years about who will be cast in the role of the Boy Wonder, but nothing’s come to fruition yet.

This will be the first show for DC’s upcoming digital streaming service, and there are hopes of developing a Hawk and Dove spinoff in the future, since Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly will join the inaugural Titans series as the famous superhero duo.
